Back in December, NASA launched the WISE, an infrared telescope that was designed to map the entire visible universe. And one of its first shots? This epic comet.
This shot is one of four that NASA has processed and published after receiving the first batch of 250,000 raw images from the telescope. It shows Sliding Spring, a comet discovered in 2007 that has a 10 million-mile tail of dust being blown by the solar wind. Amazing stuff. [NASA via Wired Science]
